Need help to solve strange Views problem

Featured Replies

I've had this strange problem with FSX for several months now that I can not get to the bottom of. The problem manifests itself with runways, taxiways and airport lights (at night) being visible through terrain in some instances. I've tried disabling every scenery related add-on I've got, going between DX9 and DX10, clearing shader caches.... no joy. Here's an example: This is from the Virtual Cockpit view - notice the airport appearing throw the hillside just to the right of the HUD:

It's not always obvious because it doesn't show through autogen scenery - so a tree-filled hillside will pretty much block it. Also, being close to the terrain, or multiple layers of terrain also seem to block it out. Finally, and this may be a clue, it doesn't seem to show up in every view. Here's the same scene (paused) from the Spot view - no airport!:

Here it is from the tail view - there it is again!:

I've searched the forums and googled for this problem but come I've come up dry and at a loss as to the cause/solution. Help! :unknw:

Never mind. Problem solved. Stupid user shoots self in foot!

I had a 'tweak' in my main FSX Camera view to solve a minor problem in my Milviz T-38A which was to add the command 'ClipMode=Minimum' to the global VC camera definition. This problem was one of the side effects.
