Rutan boomerang and the post-modern experience

Featured Replies

Hi folksI am often ridiculed by my fellow men of letters that I tend to live inside a virtual bubble of non-reality. But I don't. I also go to the students bar and drink brew. (I try not to tell the ladies too soon about my nerdy side.)The Rutan Boomerang by Adrian Esdaile is truly the virtual experience:We sit in front of our MS flight Simulator simulating a real life aircraft. The aircraft is equipped with virtual gauges (just like in the real life aircraft!), but this is just a virtual rendition of the real virtual gauges. Furthermore, inside the MS program we execute (ahh, actually the Mac doesn't .exe (cute)) a piece of virtual MAC software, making a virtual connection between the mastodonts of non-reality. Crashing into the ground makes no difference. The virtual grass is only virtually deadly and neither the virtual gauges or the virtual MAC is damaged. We virtually resurrect it. I'll stop now, just see what two cups of coffee can do....Can't wait to go fishing again, lest I forget the reality of nature.Cheers,Real Halfdan

Yes, maybe the coffee will help...:-)Todd

LOL never thought of the addon in that way but now that you mention it I have to agree - a virtual rendition of virtual gauges :-lol(for those who haven't downloaded this addon: the gauges of the real-life aircraft are displayed by a Mac laptop connected to the aircraft. This Mac is simulated to some extent by the FS addon. Try turning off the avionics master switch in the middle of the flight - the Mac will crash :-lol )
