Reduce Speed

Hello

 

So I have owned vox for nearly four weeks now and out of 40+ flights with it I get asked  today for the first time by atc to reduce speed to 180kts so what I want to know is what condition triggers this response I was flying atc vectors at 220kts towards Cardiff ?
