April 29, 201412 yr When I am listening to virtual clubs atc controllers I have a bad memory when it comes to repeating back the atc message. I was wondering if there is a program (other then the default FSX atc) that will read back the atc controllers message? Sort of a voice to text made for FSX. I have tried using the voice to text app that Dragon puts out but I set up my iPad that has the app and let it try to pickup the atc voice from FSX but that doesn't work. I need to be an accurate text read back. It anyone can help I know of allot of people who would be grateful. Mokuboy1

Mokuboy1 Hi, Not sure if you are aware, FSX has an option to display all messages sent to and received from ATC. Go to General settings dialog box and tick option "Show text..." or "Display text..." (can't recall the exact wording. Gerald R https://www.multicrewxp.com
April 29, 201412 yr Author Thanks for your reply. Actually I am aware of that but it's not the FSX ATC that I'm talking about. While playing with virtual flying club on FSX Multiplayer like Vatsim or Boston Virtual ATC you don't get to have a text read back option. It's a real person that talks to you. If there was a program that would transfer what the controller is saying into text then I would be able to repeat it back to the controller with no errors. Even in the real world I don't see how pilots remember what the controller says to them and be able to read back. Thanks again,

In the real world, every pilot has his own way of logging clearances. A pilot would typically scribble... Dest FPR CLB 6000 SQ 4540 or use signs familiar to him, and he would know himself what that means In this case I meant "cleared to destination via flight plan route, climb altitude 6000, squawk 4540. Aside from the initial clearance which can be verbose and might require the use pen and paper in order to remember all the bits, other enroute clearances are rarely scribbled. What you need is some practice, and develop the ability to memorise things. The same with flight numbers. They change for every leg you fly, and the first thing you do when you step into the cockpit is wire your brain to that specific number. Unless you are seeking a solution that would help some people with impaired hearing, the best way is to get on with it and practice. And to re-assure you, even seasoned pilots whose native language isn't English, flying for major European airlines, sometimes struggle with ATC at busy airports like JFK, LHR etc...more so, when controllers talk too fast. April 29, 201412 yr Author Thanks again, I am definitely going to take your advise. You seem to know what you're talking about. As usual I am always trying to look for an easier way out. I always feel bad for the controller when someone ask them to repeat the message. Their job is hard enough! You gave me some valuable advice. See you in the air...
