February 17, 200521 yr All of my magnetic deviations have been lost. I do not remember what I installed to make this happen. It is as if the entire globe doesn't have any magnetic deviation. all of my approach headings on ils and runway headings are the true headings, not the magnetic variations. Please help:(
February 17, 200521 yr A friend of mine has/had the same problem. He traced it to the Scenery/generic/scenery folder. After a total uninstall and reinstall of FS9, including the patch, it seems add-ons installed some files and/or overwrote the default files in the folder. Deleting that folder and replacing it with the default one from the CD seemed to cure the problem. Of course, you then have to go through all the add-ons and find out which one is the culprit. Not sure if he ever did get that far, but he did get things back to normal. I know he said he had some files that were named ps_xxx_xxx.bgl or similar names. They are not default, since I do not have them in my folder, which is FS9.1 default. HTH,Paul
February 17, 200521 yr Author YES. I have lost magnetic headings... I did go thru MS tech suport but they were not much help.. I am still working on the problem. I am able to get the magnetic heading back as the problem lies in the scenerygenericscenery folder more specific the generic.bgl... I don't think a reinstall of FS9 is necessary but the 9.1 update is the culprit ?? They make note of it in the 9.1 update "readme"... I have about 200 addon scenery folders, 95% airports.. Once I got the magnetic heading fixed I found i was not able to reinstall ALL the airports.. It sends the the heading back to true... I have been able to work around this.. As all these sceneries were working prior to the "melt down" I don't think the problem is the scenery... Prior to the "bug" when all was working the generic default bridges were disabled... That is the only difference in my files at this point... I am giong to disablem them again and then try to install the scenery.. if that doesn't work I will uninstall the patch and try to install scenery.... A lot of trial and error here... If you want more info or a "how to fix" you can contact me directly... easier then going thru the forum... Ray Lunning Surprise AZ [email protected]
February 17, 200521 yr Thank you both for the response. I copied the generic scenery folder from the cd and it fixed my problem. I believe it was megacity san francisco. that was the last program i installed before losing my magnetic variation. I will write to aerosoft about this. Thank you again.:-)
February 17, 200521 yr I have also had this problem, and although I did end up doing a complete re-install I believe for me the problem was a bad afcad. Australia I think. I do not have megascenery so that was not the culprit for me.Drew
February 17, 200521 yr Author I have had this problem and it will not go away... I can fix it but then when I try to replace scenery THAT WAS WORKING before. It breaks FS9.... So it can't just be the scenery... I have had SimFlyers scenery in and working.. Now no good... Something is happening deep in FS9 or WinXP to cause this..??
