February 17, 200521 yr I once read of a way to speed up the reloading of FS after initial use by storing the appropriate files in a temp file. It also enabled you to refresh the screen by hitting the TAB button whilst using FS. Can anybody help
February 17, 200521 yr Hi Semm,I'm sure most of us are aware that FS reloads significantly faster following that initial load at the start of a simming session. I've never worked out why this should be unless it has something to do with XP's prefetch routines. However, that theory falls down when you reboot and load the sim afresh - the time taken is the same as an initial load. It only seems to apply providing you neither reboot nor turn of your PC. It's almost as if some parts of the loaded sim remains in memory, but this also seems to be a false assumption as the bulk of physical memory memory is released following an exit from the sim.I know this isn't really the response you were looking for, but I thought I would chip in in the hope that someone can explain this consistent behaviour.Mike
February 18, 200521 yr Author I regularly empty mine windows/prefetch folder. Next to that I use fsautostart with a profile where at least RAm is defragged and idle tasks are forced to execute (and services are being stopped according to blackvipers advice). Together with a fresh boot I got good results starting the sim....Rob "Holland&Holland" de Vries http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Flying.gif"To go up, pull the stick back.
