Pop-Ups - Keep Size & Position?

Featured Replies

Hi allSimple question I hope!I know you can re-size and re-position things like throttle panels, radio panels, EADIs, etc. However, is there a way to have FS9 save these settings when you return to the aircraft on another day? Thanks in advanceMalcolm

Yes and No.Yes:If you save the flight in which you have repositioned/rescaled the windows and use that flight the next time, all scales/positions are the same (because those settings are saved wih the flight.)No:If you reload the aircraft (in that same flight, or another), the defaults as defined in the panel are set again. This is how it generally works. There may be one exception: a panel designer might have included a gauge that forces all windows back to their defaults if the panel is loaded (under any circumstances, so overriding the settings in the flight). Moreover, it could even be possible that the panel designer made a gauge that SAVES your settings for that aircraft, and use it the next time you reload it. But I don't know any examples of that.Cheers, Rob

Yes, with a qualification, you can do what you want. However, it involves working inside the panel.cfg file. If you open a panel file and look at it it will have, certainly, the sizes for the window. It should be noted that if you ONLY change the window size then some of the contents of the window will not fit. You may also have to adjust the size of the contents. Ya might want to look into getting FS Panel Studio which will allow you to make visual changes to each window. Most of the windows either pop up with a default position or are set with a command in the file. You can pick up the SDK for panels and an explanation of the positions is within. :D

You can try this... works for me. In your panel.cfg file go to the Window section that represents the panel you want to change. Couple of lines to work with are:position=8window_size= 0.4, 0.5(this was taken from my GPS panel)Where as position=X, there are 8 positions available to place your panel 0 thru 8, 0= top left corner of your screen and 8=bottom right. So your screen is devided up as follows:0 - 1 - 23 - 4 - 56 - 7 - 8For size, try adjusting the numbers, one is vertical the other is horizontal. Play around and you'll see difference. Once set and saved your panels will always be the size and location you wish. Can't guarantee it works with every panel though.
