SimConnect load error

Featured Replies

I am reinstalling FSX. Deep into the install of Acceleration, I get the following error:

An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect,version="10.0.61259.0",publicKeyToken="67c7c14424d61b5b",processorArchitecture="x86",type="win32". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. H... I am installing in C:\FSX. I ran installs of both FSX and Acceleration as administrator. The error comes after the installation of DirectX 9. I already have DirectX 13 on the pc. I'm stumped.

Hi,

Did you run FSX before installing Acceleration?

What did you do to uninstall your old FSX?

Try a Repair Install of FSX and Acceleration.

I followed the PMDG process at http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx. Started FXS before trying to install Acceleration. Had to have install shield wizard reinstalled because it crashed. Installed DirectX13 while trying to install PMDG 737NGX. 737 crashed with weird symptoms so I tried the un- re-install route. FSX had been running. I hadn't originally installed it in C:\FSX so tried that. Now I have this problem.

1. There is no such thing as DirectX13.

2. Your entire FSX install is messed up along with Simconnect, which is installed into your Windows directory.

3. You still might want to try a Repair install of FSX and Acceleration.

Don't know where DirectX13 came from. This is hard doings when you don't have a memory.

Ran repair. Ran the Acceleration install. Same error.

When FSX is uninstalled, is the sim connect stuff removed? I'm about ready to uninstall again.

Run the Acceleration install "As Administrator" and see what happens.

Then just fly and see what happens.

Instead, I tried something different. I uninstalled FSX. You gave me a clue when you said that sim connect is installed in the Windows directory. I searched there and found 2 copies of sim connect.dll. I deleted them after much fooling around with permissions. How brialiant I was. I proceeded to install, with a clean boot and as administrator, FSX. Succeeded. Proceeded to install Accelerator as administrator. Failed with the same error at the same place. Followed your advice and tried to fly. Could. Did a test by trying to install FSUIPC, knowing it used simconnect. Failed. Said that found the wrong version of simconnect. Something is hiding on my machine that messes up the install of simconnect. There were a couple of additional files in winsxs with simconnect in their names. I didn't delete them. I'm not hopeful that deleting them and trying again will accomplish anything.

I tried another approach. I downloaded SP1 and SP2 from the avsim library. SP1 installed without a hitch. SP2 failed with the same error as Acceleration did with the addition of :"HRESULT:0x80070216". That doesn't mean any more to me than the rest of the error message but it might mean something to someone else.
