  1. What mobo do you recommend for a new build for FXS? I am going to use a 4790k but am having difficulty selecting among the different offerings of a given manufacturer, let alone selecting among those manufacturers. Other than "more is better" for a given feature, how to choose?
  2. Thanks for the replies. I'm going to just let 'er rip.
  3. I need to install FSX on a new PC. I expect that I will get a failure when I try to activate on the new machine. Is there a way to deactivate first? I expect that I will spend a lot of frustrating time if I install, try to activate, then have a failure. Anybody else dealt with this?
  4. I tried another approach. I downloaded SP1 and SP2 from the avsim library. SP1 installed without a hitch. SP2 failed with the same error as Acceleration did with the addition of :"HRESULT:0x80070216". That doesn't mean any more to me than the rest of the error message but it might mean something to someone else.
  5. Instead, I tried something different. I uninstalled FSX. You gave me a clue when you said that sim connect is installed in the Windows directory. I searched there and found 2 copies of sim connect.dll. I deleted them after much fooling around with permissions. How brialiant I was. I proceeded to install, with a clean boot and as administrator, FSX. Succeeded. Proceeded to install Accelerator as administrator. Failed with the same error at the same place. Followed your advice and tried to fly. Could. Did a test by trying to install FSUIPC, knowing it used simconnect. Failed. Said that found the wrong version of simconnect. Something is hiding on my machine that messes up the install of simconnect. There were a couple of additional files in winsxs with simconnect in their names. I didn't delete them. I'm not hopeful that deleting them and trying again will accomplish anything.
  6. Don't know where DirectX13 came from. This is hard doings when you don't have a memory. Ran repair. Ran the Acceleration install. Same error. When FSX is uninstalled, is the sim connect stuff removed? I'm about ready to uninstall again. Don't know where DirectX13 came from. This is hard doings when you don't have a memory. Ran repair. 7. I followed the PMDG process at http://support.precisionmanuals.com/kb/a87/how-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-fsx. Started FXS before trying to install Acceleration. Had to have install shield wizard reinstalled because it crashed. Installed DirectX13 while trying to install PMDG 737NGX. 737 crashed with weird symptoms so I tried the un- re-install route. FSX had been running. I hadn't originally installed it in C:\FSX so tried that. Now I have this problem.
  8. I am reinstalling FSX. Deep into the install of Acceleration, I get the following error: An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect,version="10.0.61259.0",publicKeyToken="67c7c14424d61b5b",processorArchitecture="x86",type="win32". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. H... I am installing in C:\FSX. I ran installs of both FSX and Acceleration as administrator. The error comes after the installation of DirectX 9. I already have DirectX 13 on the pc. I'm stumped. Jim
  9. I am in the process of completely reinstalling FSX. I have PMDG 737 and getting weird behaviors, so decided to reinstall. PMDG recommends not installing in default program directory. I installed in program directory originally so thought this might be the cause of my problem behavior. My original install went without a hitch. I uninstalled using instructions from PMDG. On reinstall, I made 2 changes. I installed in C:\FSX and I ran install as administrator. Installed and authenticated FSX without a problem. I have the gold version, so proceeded to install Acceleration. It fails with the following error message: An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.FlightSimulator.SimConnect,version="10.0.61259.0",publicKeyToken="67c7c14424d61b5b",processorArchitecture="x86",type="win32". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. H... I have no idea what to do now. I don't even know if this is the proper forum to ask for help.
