Why the stutters in instant replay

No stutters when I'm landing, it's really smooth, but when I go to instant replay it's like a slide show sometimes. You'd think it would be the opposite.billg

You watch the replay from an exterior view, right?I suspect it might have to do with terrain textures 50 miles away, but still passing in front of your "view".Perhaps you could try turning down the "visibility distance" and see if it still does this.

Hey Rotor, yes, it's exterior view. Better to watch myself. :-)I'll play with the distance and see if that's it. Maybe it would stutter in real time too with the exterior view, now that I think about it, but of course in real time I'm in cockpit view. Thx for the tip!billg

Instant Replay will be a little less fluid than regular flight but it shouldn't be as bad as you are describing. The reason for some jerkiness is because the instant replay funciton only plays a certain number of frames per second. It would make the saving of the last few minutes of flight way too big a file to handle if it saved all 30-45 or whatever frames per second so it usually only saves one or two FPS. It's similar to the Flight Video function but there you get to select what FPS is saved.

Another reason is that if you're in regular flight and you switch from interior to exterior view or from VC to 2D panel, etc, there is a slight pause, but you don't really notice it. But that pause also shows up on the instant replay and is much more noticable.Matt
