Cannot restore a flight file

I had to re-install my FSX and now I can't restore a saved flight. I can save it and the file is time stamped ok but when I load the file none of my saved cockpit switches are saved.

I run in Admin mode, SFX is installed in C:\FSX3 and I have enabled all FSX3 folder permissions (cascading downward into sub-folders).

Maybe I'm missing something obvious?

Any ideas I could try would be appreciated.
