Your Average FPS?

Featured Replies

Hi, I am pretty sure this has been asked quite a lot but every case is not exactly the same. I wonder what is the fps for people with similar specs and settings to mine. I have an i5 4670k with no oc enabled, gtx 770, and 8gb ram. As for addons I am running rex, ezdok, and ultimate terrain x. I am using the razer game booster, and I got some basic cfg tweaks like bufferpools and highmemfix.

I got the settings recommended by the pmdg staff for the nvidia inspector, and my fsx settings are: global textures to very high, large detail radius, 50 mesh complexity, 19m mesh resolution, 1m texture resolution, water effects to high 1x, normal scenery complexity, and sparse autogen. I don't have any air trafic or land and sea vehicles. Now with the vc textures to 2048 on a simple airport with little overall scenery I am getting 20-25 fps at low altitudes. If I don't run rex then I can get up to 35 fps. but I usually do.

If the aircraft is over 15k feet then it can get to 30-33 fps but thats about it, so I wonder if this is acceptable/average for my rig and settings. To be honest I am impressed and jealous how some people get over 30 fps while also running air traffic addons, more complex scenery and even hd addon airports with a similar rig. I don't plan on getting more addons thou, but I feel like I should getting a little more, however my cpu is used at about 75% of its capacity most of the time and as I understand the 32 bit fsx won't let most pc's unleash what they have, but what bothers me a little is how fps jumps by not running rex while the cpu is being utilized to a similar ammount, plus knowing that if I get an addon or two more my fps will drop to 15 while many get 30. I can't oc too much because the temperatures are too high in my area.

Hmm I just found out about the display refresh rates and I lowered them to 10 plus turned the co-pilot ones off and I am getting a solid 30-35 fps, its like a miracle, just hoping it stays there.

Any tips for the cfg, fsx display settings, and nvidia inspector settings (except the pmdg ones) are welcomed thou.

I just found something that might be weird, I get 3-5 more fps in windowed mode than in fullscreen yet most people get this the other way, what could it be?

Hey Francisco

I have the exact same setup as you - I5 4670K, 8 GB ram, GTX770

I had the same problem as you, was finding in the NGX wasnt getting the fps i wanted. I actually posted on this forum a while ago, and got told to atleast try and Overclock to atleast 4.2Ghz. I got it to 4.4Ghz, and now i lock FPS in FSX to 30 internally. And i manage to get 29.9 fps on the dot. So i would say if you are comfortable, try and overclock :) Just make sure you have a descent cooler, and you watch the temps
