ifr tutorial flight not totally working

when I start the ifr tutorial flight , atc works fine for clearance ,taxi, and take off and tells me to climb to altitude. but after that atc just lets me fly indefinitly in the wrong direction which in this case was the asigned runway heading. did I miss something. Tried twice.
