Changing default VC cockpit zoom?

Featured Replies

Hello savants,

I am trying to change the default zoom of 0.3 to something more life like. From the documentation I thought I had derived that going to the ......./AppData/.... blahblah/cameras.cfg and changing the InitialZoom parameter OR going to the aircraft.cfg in the SimObjects folder would do this. No such luck. It always stays at 0.3 .

I adjusted the InitialZoom parameter in the CameraDefinition.002. This is for the copied FSX 172, but no, that is NOT the problem.

Any ideas? Thanks much!

If you want a new zoom for all your aircraft at once, the easiest method is to set up a flight the way you want it (plane on your favorite location, weather, date, time etc. etc. and zoom the way you want it) and then save the flight, making sure it becomes the DEFAULT flight. The next time your start P3D the settings from that new default flight will be loaded automatically, including the new zoom.

Thanks J van E, that'll work for new flights derived from the default flight.  I ended up doing that and then manually copied the camera section for the virtual cockpit out of that file into my other saved flights. That'll work for now. I wonder though where and when the airplane specific camera definition for the VC would be used, if ever / anywhere.
