understanding anisotropic and AA in Nvidia Inspector

Featured Replies

I have a post going already in this forum asking for help with settings in NI on my particular system and it has been very helpful but it has brought up new questions for me.

I am trying to understand the proper use of texture filtering in NI. IS Nicks guide it says to set anti aliasing off in FSX, and to set filter to trilinear. It also says to set NI to 16x I. Filtering. Many people have recommended that I set the filtering to application controlled and linear/off and set anisotropic in fsx.

According to his guide and forum posts he has made, setting the 16x already provides anisotropic because NI is telling the GPU to override application settings already and applying that, so I am not seeing why setting the application controlled in NI is any different.

Maybe I am seeing this wrong but can someone explain this to me. Thanks.
