Addon aircraft makes blurry texture!

Hi all, this happends only to addon aicraft. I can pause the game, wait for however long, reload scenery

Bump

Have you tried going from full screen to windowed mode and vice-versa? That has solved the problem for some. I have the Cheyenne too and my textures look great in full screen mode. If you just upgraded your ATI drivers you might want to try an uninstall/reinstall and/or delete your FS9.cfg and let it rebuild itself. Also check your scenery.cfg and make sure it's not corrupted (areas/layers not in sequence). Hope this helps.JimP4 3.6GHz w/1Gig of DDR2 RAM; Radeon X800XT PCIe video card

I have found that it's usually the format of the texture files that cause this (mainly, 32-bit with mipmaps). If you have the DXTBMP program from Martin Wright (freeware), you can convert the textures to DXT3. It reduces the file size considerably, but I have never noticed a reduction in image quality. When you convert a texture to DXT3, save it without the mipmaps, as they are usually the culprit. Some video cards need the mipmaps, some don't. Give it a try but back up the originals first so you can get back to square one if necessary. If you don't have this program, the name of the place is Martin Wright Graphics.Cheers,Bob

Thanks Bob and Jim!Even before I takeoff in a new addon ac I go through the tedious process of DX3'ing the 32 bits (yes I know the screenshot shows 32 bit

Your computer obviously can't handle the greater complexity of highend addon aircraft well.Reduce some of your settings and see what happens.

Jim,I agee, so whenever I can avoid tweaking I use helpers like FSEnvironment and TweakFPS. The problems I have had lately is related to my new videocard, which is very hard to set up but performes well for the price tag. And I don't tweak each time I boot fs, the dxt'ing for the addons is of course only once per plane, and not all publishers use 32bit (if they do, why not give us a choice like Level D does?). Yesterday when I solved this problem I was very pleased, knowing that tonight I can leave fs as it is and do what I'm supposed to

>BumpOk , I'll bite. What the heck does "bump" mean? Is it supposed to be cute or something?

I have experienced this same issue since I got my new PC about a month ago. It is intermittant, sometimes I get it for days at a time , and I can restore normal textures by switching to windowed mode for a second, and other times by reloading the aircraft. Sometimes nothing helps and a reboot is necessary. I am starting to believe that this is a Nvidia 6800 GT issue, despite switching drivers, because I see it is more prevalent when the PC has been on for awhile ( heat related). Dell is replacing my PC in a week due to a host of problems,so hopefully this problem will stay with the old PC. By the way I have a high end system with a 3.4 Processor and 1 Gig of ram, so I do not believe it has anything to do with the system capability. I have seen 2 similar problems on the Hardware discussion group, in 2 threads, one of which I started. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/113102.jpg
