April 16, 200521 yr I broke down and got the ATR...I am kinda worried about it now... Especially seeing that manual ugh...Put it this way I have a lexmark z52 printer and my black ink is wiped out.. Guess it was getting low anyways.. (LOL)...Actually from what I have picked up on so far the ATR is great the only problem I have is...If anyone could help me please.. I am trying to set my navigation system up and fly the autopilot. I have no problem setting up Vspeed and Altitude. Oh and I added the GPS to the ATR..Oh and I have tried making a flight plan and importing it but when I hit the NAV on the autopilot I get nothing..Lets say I want to fly from KICT to KDAL.What would I do to correctly config that in the ATR to fly it? And when I get to KDAL anyone know how I would set the ATR up for approach with the autopilot. If anyone can help me with this it would be greatly appreciated..I have done gone bonkers looking at this manual.THANKS, Josh
April 16, 200521 yr Josh,You are asking for someone to put a heck of a lot of information in a post for you, this is a very complex plane and, like I said in the post at the ATR forums, you should start by printing out the tutorials and working through them, it will all become clear(er) to you.And another thing, get rid of that #### GPS and fly it the way its meant to be flown ;)Dan.
April 16, 200521 yr Commercial Member You need to ensure that you have the flight plan entered into the FMC - the procedure for that is in the manual/tutorials. In the plane, open up the captain's EFIS panel and make sure you've pushed the RNV button - this sets the flight director/autopilot to follow the FMC route instead of the NAV radio signal. This is probably why you couldn't get it to follow the route. You can push the MAP button while in RNV mode to get a display of the route on the EHSI screen.I'd strongly suggest learning to use the FMC over inserting the FS2004 GPS into the panel - the ATR has everything you need to navigate realistically built into it. Once you learn the FMC you'll have a very good handle on how they operate in the other addons that have them too. April 16, 200521 yr LOL... I don't know about this plane...I do have the manual but put it this way the printer started running out of ink towards about the last 3/4 of it...:( Crud with this thing I feel like I need sectionals and everything else... Have now map in the cockpit to figure out what the frequency's are for NDB or VOR'S...I think I would rather rip out the E-6B and a sectional and pop the compass and call it good on this thing... (LOL).Dog gone manual about herniated me...Well I tried the first Example tutorial 1 TFFF to TFFR and I input that information and activated it.Took off and fired up the autopilot and nothing... I had my altitude and vspeeds correct but I might as well threw a thumb out the window cause it sure the heck was not catching a signal any where.Like the plane. But I dunno if me and this NAV system is gonna get along to well... Besides it's 2005 don't most pilots carry a GPS in their pocket and their flight bag? :-abduct I like to fly in some major IFR conditions and If I can not figure this thing out I am gonna be in trouble. Crud that means no one will be able to see the thumb either. Oh well Thanks,
April 16, 200521 yr You will figure it out, just give it time, be patient with it, and relax and thumb through the manual, little tip, take the PDF file to a local print shop, they will print it out for a some cost, I got mine done for
