Low Systems Resorces

Featured Replies

FS 9 keeps crashing with "DdHelp" error. When I start FS9 my system resorces are at 88%, After I start FS9, resources drop down to only 30%. After I load FS Meteo, Flight Deck Companion, and FS Nav resourses are down to 0% and FS9 crashes with the DdHelp error. Even when I turn off everything in the background except explorer and systray and only load FS9, FS Meteo, Flighdeck Companion, and FS Nav, resourses are at 0%Runnning Win98SE, 512meg of ram, FX5200 video card(128meg). I have installed the lastest video drivers, still the same results. The problem as gotten worse in the last week.Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi James; How long since you ran scandisk-full and defragged? When I ran 98SE I had to do it dailyx( DennyProfessional Tourist

Something about system resources that's very important to know with Windows 9x. If you are letting other processes load, then turning them off, you may not be gaining the resources back vs. not letting them load at all during the boot process.Install Hijack this and post the log here. That is always a good start for these types of issues.Save the scandisk and defrag for the moment--never try either of these utilities unless you are sure your system is clean of spyware. -John

My Hi-JackThis file is attached. I have run AdAware and Spybot. Both come up with nothing. Three different virus scans also show nothing. Thanks

You're loading Norton and a Firewall at startup. If you were running under XP, I wouldn't worry. But to make Windows 98 pristine for MSFS, you need to disable these programs before they startup.Essentially, you need two configurations--one for MSFS, and another for everything else. I also wouldn't be loading MSTASK.EXE.Next, you have a ton of DPF (Download Program Files). They become active when Internet Explorer is active, and they soak up resources like everything else. Internet Explorer may even become active without your being aware of it. Do you really need all those DPF's?By contrast, here's my Hijack This Log:This should give some idea of what I mean by a clean startup:-John

I have been using FS Meteo. I installed ActiveSky. I guess the two programs did not like each other being on my machine. I uninstalled ActiveSky. Now all is back to normal. This might be something that is specific to my computer and might not happen on another computer.I am working on those DPF's.Thanks
