December 22, 201411 yr So...... having made 'the leap of faith' from FSX several months ago, studiously re-installing everything bar the kitchen sink (much to the annoyance of SWMBO who is still waiting for the real thing), and religiously following and acting upon ALL of the sage advice (gleaned and garnered from every nook, niche and cranny of this illustrious site of ours) to the absolute letter - I am now the proud owner of an up-to-date, fps-friendly, perfectly stable, beautifully-lit (thanks Rob A.) P3D. Scenery? - I can see the pub from here! Clouds? - Got them all!! Waves? - Ripples to tsunamis!!! What more could one ask for? Errmmm ....... A bit of company perhaps?? A tad careless of me I know.... but somewhere along the way I seem to have mislaid or offended every AI pilot in P3D, (was it something I muttered, during the midnight hours, in an unguarded moment of re-installation I wonder)? Whatever. This evening I chose to fly my C182 with GA AI turned ON, at 30%, for the very first time - and (like a spotty youth on his first date) waited.... and waited ... and (Yawn) waited... for someone else to turn up at my home field. It then struck me that, actually, the only muppet flying out of EGNL (even in an artificial World) at this time of the year, was probably ME! Undaunted, and within a couple of clicks, I had moved Airports to EGNH ..... and again - I waited ... and waited ... and, well - you get the picture. I upped the GA Traffic Settings to 70% and didn't even see so much as a stray cat walking across the active! In desperation I even tried Airline Traffic at 30% .... but - not even so much as an audible go-around in the REX4 clouds above! As I poured my third glass of chilled it occurred to me that I had read somewhere that Blackpool Airport had recently been closed (due to lack of Consumer demand apparently) and that operations had been moved to Manchester. Hmmmm..... Have you ever had that 'Devil May Care' moment ....? Y'know, the one where you set ALL the AI to 100%, pick an International Airport, select the active as your starting point - and then watch ATC and AI try to avoid you??? .... and I waited .... and waited..... and, well, you know the rest. No stray cats on the active at Manchester either! Hey Ho!! .... NOTAM: The Virtual World has gone home for Christmas.... and I will now probably fail the breathalyzer. Didn't want to fly tonight anyway!! Merry Christmas All. P.S. To anyone that has a solution to this - please post it in the New Year (when I can focus on the screen again). Cheers!!!
