Flight Environment Question

Featured Replies

Hi AllHope I am in the correct Forum for this question.I have just purchased FE and I have read the PDF manual for this product, and I can not see anywhere that address the issue of whether everytime I initialize FS9 that I have to initialize the Randomizer before starting FS9.Thanking in advance for any assistance with this question.Kenny G.:)

Thanks for buying the product KennySort answer is you only need to change the environment when you want to. Run it just once and forget it or run it evey time you start the game. If you randomize then it takes the hard work out of making choices. If you do it manually it's more fun.You can think of Flight Environment as a "once of change" if you like. You can just run it once; manually or randomized and it will install an all new environment of clouds, sky and water for you.If you never touch the product again you will have an all new environment intstalled. What it does is replaces the default environment with a new enviroment and that change stays until you want to change it again. For example; for the past few days I've not changed a thing with my set-up of FE and like the way the water and sky and clouds looks. Because I like this set I've saved it as a "favorite" so I can recall this liked set later.Probably in a day or two I'll get used to liking it and then make a change.I may do it manually and try this set I like with maybe a modification to the waves or a modification to the sky colour or maybe a modification to the wispy cloud or the status only. Or I may decide to let the randomize mode make a change for me and get an all new environment. Some numbers for your interest;I can't remember the exact number of cloud sets you have on the current version but soon there will be a free update and that will take you to and apsolutely huge varition of environment choices. There are a total of 144,000 cloud environments to chouse from in total. (that's why the randomize option is nice; manually it's fun but it can take years to try out all combinations)Water there are about 15 choices to make and this environment then can produce 105 different looks; albeit that some changes are very subtle.so you have 144,000 cloud environments times 105 water enviroments making a total of about 15 million enviroments then with the sky variations that can add up to silly numbers. Every sky set puts a slighly different look on the way the clouds and water looks. Some changes are very subtle and others very significant.A sky set is made up of 10 day time variations and there are about 40 of those making about 400 possilbe day time sky looks......About 6 billion varitions of evironment in total....So we made a randomizer to make it easy....LOLIn summary; it's a personal thing and sometimes you may want to leave things as they are cofident you like the look and others to manally tweak a look you like or sometimes or even all the time just let the program do it all for you and RANDOMIZE.Peter Wilding (Flight Environment Developer)
