Repaint kit help

Featured Replies

HI, I purchased the Eaglesoft Cessna II S/P and the Cessna CRJ1. They are both great aircraft and I enjoy flying them. I downloaded a Paint Kit for the Cessna II S/P from the Eaglesoft website but I can't figure out how to use it. I have used Abacus' FSRepainter for AI repaints and the program works well. My question is: Where do I place the Cessna II Repaint Textures so they show instead of the textures that come with the aircraft? I'm sure it's something simple that my old noggin can't figure out.:-hmmm Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. TomPS: I posted this message on the Eaglesoft forum but did not receive any replies so I thought I would try posting here. I know there is a "Paint Forum" on AVSIM so I posted this message there also.:-)

The paintkit is in a layered format to make the repaint easier. If you are using Photoshop or PSP then do you repaint, leave the program open, save the file as a BMP. then make a backup of you texture folder, then overwrite the matching texture with the one you did from the paintkit and view it in FSRepaint. Once you get it looking like you want, you'll need to add alpha channels and convert the texture into the correct format for FS using DXTBmp. If you need any help feel free to drop me a line. Hi,Michael, thank you for your reply.I don't have photoshop or PSP so I've been using the internal editor in FSRepaint and Microsoft Paint as the external editor. When I switch to Paint to edit, FSRepaint automatically changes the texture back to it's original form when I go back to the internal editor in FSRepaint.I've done several repaints for my AI aircraft so I know that the repaints work OK - or at least seem to.Based on your reply, I should use Paint as my editor then switch to FSRepaint to convert the textures automatically. Forgive me if I'm off base - a lot of this is new to me and I'm still learning the techniques and vocabulary of the repaint world.(-: Thank you for your help and kind invitation to ask more questions regarding repaints.Tom:-)
