ATC keeping me to high and too close during VFR landings.

Hello Folks!!!I do not know how to look for this topic if it has already been addressed. Here is the situation: You arrive to your destination airport and ATC decides to assign you to a VFR landing in a runway. As you close down to the head of the runway the ATC asks you if you can see it.

lol it is annoying i know. My theory is to request lower and lower cruising altitudes as near to say 50 NM of the airport or so, therefore they will automatically give you a lower altitude. e.g, if your at 13 000 before starting your approach, theyll make you go to say 8000 or something, but if you've gradually worked your altitude down so you can be at 7000 or something before starting your descent, theyll then be forced to give you something more achieveable such as 5000.or you could just do what i do which is cancel the IFR flight plan as you near the airport, then descend to the height you wanna be at, and just tune the airports tower and request to land, you'll still end up on the ground and be cleared to land so the final results the same.will :-wave

Thanks Will: I guess I must accept to live with stupidities like these for the love of FS. I can't understand why it was changed from FS8, it was absolutely correct before. I hated when MS treats it's FS like a challenging arcade game. To treat FS like a game is a mayor mistake. Anyhow...Happy flights and thanks again,MAB
