June 5, 200521 yr Hello,I purchased both the American Roads from FSGen and the USA roads from Flight One. Today I got the re-pave package agian from FSGen. My question is will there be a problem with both the USA and American roads being installed at the same time. I am not sure but am thinking that they complement each other. Then I will run the re-paver package. This looks like a crazy question but after looking at them so long I figured best to post the question in hopes of some imput.Thank you.Mark.
June 5, 200521 yr Author When USA Roads is active and American Roads is set to display in Alaska Only in its config menu, all will be well. If you attempt to run them both in the USA, there will be display anomalies.Open FS9 after the installation of USA Roads and check that the roads are displayed. Then install American Data, use the config menu to set the Alaska Only option and run FS9 again. If all is working the way you want it, then install NuRoads 2.0.
June 5, 200521 yr Hello Jim,I am really tied so please fprgive me for another question. Are you saying that USA roads are better in the lower 48 than American Data and roads. Becuase I can install all in one brand or another or as you pointed out a combo. Agian I realize its another question I am just making sure what I am doing before I finish this up. Its been a morning.Thank you.Mark
June 5, 200521 yr Author Hi Mark,I don't want to say either program is better than the other. If you install USA Roads, then the only way for American Data Roads to work is to have them displayed in Alaska Only. If you don't use the roads from AD, then there will be no conflict.American Data allows you to flatten the roads where they are active, which at this juncture, USA Roads does not. AD roads adds properly placed railroads and streams, which when repaved by NuRoads2, look very convincing and realistic.Probably the best way to compare the two would be to install both, and decide which you like. I'm currently using AD Roads until Allen at Scenery Solutions releases Ultimate Terrain for the USA which will add the flatten technology.
June 5, 200521 yr Jim,I did not mean to put you on the spot. I guess I will just use AD for now.You mentioned flaten active roads. I think I know whay flatten means, but not sure of an active road like you mentioned.Back to flatten, I guess this would help when on approach at KASE and the road that wraps around the area before runway 15, where it looks real bent and jagged? Thanks so much. If you would rather e-mail some info please feel free [email protected] Agian thanks and just in case I forgot/ O am now the proud owner of both road programs.P.S. Here the other day I saw some negative info of mega sceneru. I guess with the entire lower 48 done the issue of rough transitions will ne in the past? Please if you havr time what do you like of the mega products and do theywprk with FSGen's mesh products.Take care.
June 5, 200521 yr Author Mark,The roads around KASE are a perfect example of the flatten switch available in AD. You'll definitely see the difference almost instantly. Additionally, the streams, rivers and railroads can also be flattened. It prevents them from looking like they're painted on the side of a hill.I don't own any MegaScenery so I can't help with that issue.
June 5, 200521 yr Jim,Sorry for the mix up please reload the mega question and apply it to Ultimate Terrain . I am really courious about the upcomming product. It seems like it the one you favor.Which are the box's to check to flatten things out please.I will look forward to see KASE with the improvments.Thanks.
