June 11, 200520 yr Any owners out there that have the Real Air Spitfire..I know where the fuel guage is... But does it work? And if it does how the heck do you read the booger? Thanks,
June 11, 200520 yr Yes, the guages work fine. Just took her up for a spin. There are four tanks on the Spit. They are:- 36 gallon center tank- 49 gallon center tank- 13 gallon left wing tank- 13 gallon right wing tankYou only see the 36 and 49 gallon tanks on the fuel gauge. There is no fuel gauge for the wing tanks. Regarding fuel mangement, you can either have it be automatic, or you can select a tank using the Fuel Tank Selector switch (#49 in the manual). If you have the switch in the center (automatic mode), then fuel will be drawn equally from the Left, Right, and Center 2 tanks. When these tanks are dry, then fuel will be drawn from the Center tank.If you have the switch to the left or the right, then fuel will only be drawn from either the Left or Right tank. Once one of these tanks is dry, your engine will conk out. Then you will have to switch over to the other wing tank, or to the center.Hope this helps. I am assuming that this is historically accurate. It makes for exciting flying though to all of a sudden have your engine give out on you, and you have to switch tanks.Scott
