ASN, FSX SE and EXE.XML

I have just un-installed FSX re-installed FSX SE.  In the process I have re-installed ASN, GSX and EZDok.  Shortly after the ASN install, I had problems with EZDok not starting.  The problem was traced to the EXE.XML file, which was corrupted. I manually edited it and got things running, only to have it happen again.

 

Then I noticed that ASN runs some kind of ASNConnect app when starting, and I'm wondering if this could have anything to do with the EXE.XML problem.  This time I can't even find the EXE.XML file.

 

Any ideas?
