June 22, 200520 yr I'm wondering if anyone else ever experiences this. I have no problem setting up my flights and actually flying to my destination, but a few minutes after shutdown I get the dreaded CTD. No explanation. No "We're sorry for the inconvenience..", etc. All of a sudden I'm just staring at my desktop like FS was never there. In fact, once I went from watching a nice sunset from the gate straight into an instant reboot of my computer with no warning. So far this has only happened after flight completion but it makes multiple legs impossible. Very strange. FSAutostart, then FSLive, ASV, FS9 is my start-up sequence. I'm wondering if it has something to do with weather updates on ground. Not pointing the finger in that direction, just curious. It's happened with both the PMDG 737 and ATR 72-500. If anyone has any wisdom to share about this, I'm listening. Thanks.
June 22, 200520 yr Random CTD's are really tough to troubleshoot. Those that aren't hardware related are almost always add-on related, or related to the seasonal CTD that some received prior to the 9.1 MSFS patch. However, your CTD is happening after shutdown. That leads me to believe that some process is getting kicked off during your MSFS session that isn't closing properly. Seems to point to an add-on--probably something getting loaded via your modules folder and staying loaded after MSFS terminates. Either that, or one of your add-ons is kicking off a process during MSFS that's not closing right.-John
June 22, 200520 yr Hi John. Thanks for the quick reply. Actually I meant shutdown of the engines. Flightsim still running. After re-reading my post I realize I wasn't clear on that. Sorry. No, just sitting at the gate doing nothing, preparing for my next leg, I get the CTD or complete re-boot of the system. Strange.
June 22, 200520 yr maybe theres some AI traffic thats missing? Or duplicate afcads? maybe check your scenery.cfg file to see if there are numbering problems or duplicate entries. So many issues to look at. The first thing I'd try is moving your fs9.cfg file to your desktop, starting the game, and setup your settings all over again to see if that fixes it first.
June 22, 200520 yr No duplicate AFCADS but I was wondering about the AI thing. Especially since I'm using FSLive, a new program. I can't say that I would know what to look for there though. How would that cause a CTD?
June 23, 200520 yr You can find out more details of the crash by looking at the Event Viewer w/i Administrative Tools. GOTO Administrative Tools>Computer Management>Event Viewer>Application. Sometimes MS has suggestions for a fix or directs you to a site for more info. It's more than likely one of your dll's in your Module folder that's causing the problem. Jim
September 29, 200520 yr I do experince that when I put wheels on rwy CTD, and have to reload, very fustrating thing. And it happens often when you are making long flights, anyones has ideas, and no I don't have the update because incompatible with PSS A320 and Dash-8. Stéphane
September 29, 200520 yr I have been using FS Autosave lately, and while my CTD's have pretty much disappeared since I rebuilt my FS9.cfg file, it is nice to have if you have a Pilot error crash like I did the other night ( first in many, many months) . Started up my flight with one of the 10 saved flights that are the last 10 minutes of any flight, and I am back up in the air again, right where I was prior to the crash.
