If I were to purcahse the NGX from another source (e.g. aerosoft shop or flightsim shop), would I still receive the same support for it (service packs etc.), use it with the PMDG operation centre?

Basically yes (support, op center and stuff is all the same), but my recommendation is to support PMDG as much as you can and to buy it as a download from their store. You will get servicepacks more quickly (their current download already includes the latest SP) and you might even save a few bucks that are not required for DVDs, printed manuals, packaging and postage, and commissions to a box publisher.

 

The DVDs currently out there require a new full installer (download only!) from the Aerosoft FAQ/Updates database. So, even as a box owner, you will have to download one full installer at least, anyway.
