June 29, 200520 yr Can someone help me with this please... I love the Pilatus PC-12 It is an excellent plane for many purposes also great for some of them tight airfields for bush flying... I am interested in being able to apply the default fs9 gps with this plane just for the terrain mapping. Can someone tell me how to do this.. I have already spent money on 1 gps system which is the reality xp garmin 530 which I like. But it doesn't have terrain mapping and thats what I need out here in the Himilayans. So could someone tell me how to integrate the default fs9 gps with my pc-12. Thanks,
June 29, 200520 yr I don't have the PC-12, but I would guess that it comes with the default GPS. If you have not touched the GPS, it should still be in your PC-12. If you have replaced the default with the RXP 530, you can reinstall the default. If I had a plane with the RXP in it and wanted the default instead, I would consider uninstalling the plane and reinstalling. You can get the benefit of both by leaving the default as it is when installing the plane, and using the RXP config to install the RXP in the dropdown box. That way, you can use the RXP for nav and still get the bumpy map effect from the default GPS.Have Fun - Steve
June 29, 200520 yr Steve, Yeah I did do a re-install and it does not have the default GPS... I didn't know if there was a way to implement the default gps in it... It has a great gps system in it if you are doing what ya call normal flying (LOL)... But hanging low in canyons in the himilayans ain't cutting it for the Bush (grin)... So that is really my particular mission. I was thinking about getting sim flyers gmx v1. But I figured why go to them extreme's if there is someone out there that can educate me on just installing the FS9 in it. I appreciate your help and input. I was thinking their has to be some way I couldn't just copy the default out of one of fs9's planes and probably do something in the config. But I don't know where to start... Thank Ya Sir,
June 29, 200520 yr Thanks all for your help... Problem Solved. I went into the panel config and decided to give up the parking brake shift 5 and pulled the gps 500 off of the panel config of the kingair and did a little bit of playing with the flight one pc-12 panel.. Of course backed it up and I now have the GPS 500 in place of the brake panel which is a shift 5 and waaa lah... Happy Landings,
June 29, 200520 yr Glad to hear you solved your problem. I don't think I visualized your problem, as I would have if I had the PC-12 myself. Making the GPS always visable requires panel mods sometimes, and for that I use FS Panel Studio to save time and remain in a good mood.I like to do Bush stuff out of Missoula, with visits to other areas now and then.I use the Aerosoft Beaver and FSD Porter a lot, but I am looking real hard at the F1 PC-12. The Beaver is the Old Stand By. The FSD Porter is fine, but it is a bit harder on FPS and very user unfriendly to anyone who wants to make any slight mods to the panel. It is a very well protected product. F1 has never disappointed me, and has always provided a valid excuse to add yet another airplane to the fleet.Regards - Steve
June 29, 200520 yr Author Another possiblity, which is however not an FS9 gauge, is to use either FSFlightMax or FSGarmin - there is a support forum here for those two freeware products that detail installation and usage. Either one can view a scanned map, if you have the equivalent of a sectional for the Himalayas. Also, http://www.fswidgets.com is working on a 3d terrain mapping application. It is also not a gauge but will work with FS9 and possibly other sims too (e.g. X-Plane).Dave Blevins System: Asus P8Z68 Deluxe/Gen3 mobo *** i7 2700K @ 5gHz w/ Corsair H80 cooler NVidia GTX 570 OC *** 8 GB 1600 Corsair Vengeance DRAM *** CoolerMaster HAF X case System overclocked and tuned for FSX by fs-gs.com Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog stick/throttle & CH Products Pro Pedals Various GoFlight panels *** PFC avionics stack
