July 6, 200520 yr Anyone out there have the American Data off of the FSGenesis website? If so when a I decide to buy Ultimate Terrain U.S.A. should I un-install the American Data's Roads & Railroads?Didn't know if It would cause conflict at all...Or give ya double trouble... :( Thanks,
July 6, 200520 yr You can continue to use the American Data roads if you'd like, and just disable the UT USA roads in the config menu. But I think you'll find the UT USA roads more accurate than the American Data roads, although slightly less accurate than USA Roads. The only thing I kept from American Data is the utilities since UT USA does not have them, but it does have the streams and railroads.Jim
July 6, 200520 yr Yeah I was thinking about going with the Ultimate Terrain Roads anyways.. I just got Ultimate Terrain Alaska/Canada about 2 weeks ago and I like the roads...So I don't need to un-install American Data I can just uncheck all the roads... Yeah i was thinking about keeping the utilities also. Cool... If that is what I can do is just uncheck I will do that.. Cool they put that option in the software. Thanks,
July 6, 200520 yr UT:USA and USA Roads are by the same developer. I am no expert, but in my experience, USA Roads is more accurate than American Data roads and better looking (I have both)(some others disagree about the looks, not the accuracy), the big thing people liked about AD Roads was that it used "flattening", which apparently UT:USA has implemented to some degree(?).My question is this, according to the developer, UT:USA uses the same database as USA Roads. Why would USA Roads be more accurate than UT:USA? The developer seems to imply on the UT:USA forum that they are basically the same with flattening in the UT product. Thanks,Thomas
July 6, 200520 yr The data set used along the Canadian border is from different vendor to provide compatibility with UT:Canada. Overall, the data in UT:USA is acutally better, with some updates, more points in curves for better apperance and so on.Allen is working on a toggle to allow you to choose which data set you want to use along the Canadian border.Tony
July 6, 200520 yr Josh,I am using American Data with UT USA.I have everything in American Data turned off EXCEPT the power lines. Since UT does not have power lines, this lets me keep that feature while using UT.Wilson
July 9, 200520 yr Regarding UT USA, it's the best scenery ad on I've bought so far. The Lake and river details are fantastic. I'm impressed with the street lighting, much better the USA Roads. I have a long driveway with a turnaround and a street light at the top of the driveway. It's there, on UT USA. I don't know if that is a coincidence or it's there because it's supposed to be. I live on a lake and the coast line is exact. I'm extremely impressed me.The install was absolutely flawless, and importantly no notice of reduction in frame rates.I flew along the Mississippi ..... AMAZING. I used to live in ERIE, PA, and when I (sim)fly there I've always been disappointed in the inaccuracies of Erie's famous Presque Ilse peninsula. BUT!!! UT USA makes it as real as it gets, again the DETAIL of the coastline... AMAZING. In my opinion this is a GIANT LEAP forward in this fabulous hobby of ours.I've got much more to explore!!!!
