SFO Megacity and North Cal Megascenery.

Featured Replies

Six months ago I bought Northern California Megascenery and yesterday I installed Megacity San Francisco which is a huge improvement over Megascenery. Much more detail, better colors, better low altitude flying. Hard to tell the boundary between Megacity and Megascenery, so that is a good thing. In Megacity I can now easlily recognize the football stadium at Stanford University and Standford shopping center next to it. Heavies from Europe make a turn over this area before landing at KSFO.I also installed, and really like, Megascenery Pacific Northwest which comes with Megacity technology. Does that mean that San Francisco Megacity is basically a $20 software upgrade for Megascenery Northern California?I only fly heavies with departure speeds of 250kt and 310kt above FL100, and approach speeds of 200kt, so I do get blurries. I don't like blurries and got rid of most of it by increasing the TEXTURE_BANDWITH_MULT=400 (extended terrain textures box unchecked). I also assigned the trigger (button 1) on my joystick to "Refresh scenery". Anytime blurries appear I pull the trigger, the monitor goes black showing a refresh scenery window, but 5" to 30" later, all blurries are gone. I know it interrups the flying experience but I'm much more bothered by blurries.

Yes, the Megascenery SFO is just an upgrade for NC, though it will work as a stand alone as well. There are a lot of great perforumance tips on the Megascenery support forums at www.megascenery.comTony
