July 18, 200520 yr I know this has been talked about in the past but let me explain...After several months of going through my system piece-by-piece trying to discover why I get a CDT when running at 8x AGP, It is now the software to take its turn at testing. All my hardware has been basically replaced so I now figure it must be some addon on my system causing the snafu. So I made several different FS backups to feel safe on the uninstall. To my surprise after I uninstalled my FS2004 folder was still intact!? It's been so long I can't remember if they normally delete this or not.Anywho, In this long-winded explanation, I now had two FS2004 folders: MY version and the Default version. So I ran the default no problem. Then just for kicks I renamed those to default folders to XXX.ORG and rename MY folder to FS2004 (I don't use the folder name FS9), and then I also went into the Documents and settings and replaced the entire FS9 folder with my backup, also renameing the default to XXX.ORG.Yet when I ran it again I still got all the defaults... none of my aircrafts or scenery.1. Was I missing something?2. Also How in the world did it find the default if I renamed those folders to other names!?Just thought I would throw this out for comments.

July 18, 200520 yr Hi Mark,That's what I figure but how can it find the path to the default if I changed the folder name? Impossible! Oh well, would have been nice for testing purposes if I can get it to work.
July 18, 200520 yr It can be done. I asked this question a while back and someone here explained a ingenious way of doing it to me - have a search. He set up several installs covering different world regions (for ease of scenery organisation) and ran several different fs9.exe's named fs9_US.exe etc. Regards, Max (YSSY) i7-12700K | Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB 3600MHz DDR4 | Gigabyte RTX4090 24Gb | Gigabyte Z690 AORUS ELITE DDR4 | Corsair HX1200 PSU
July 18, 200520 yr Well, silly me. Of course as I looked deeper it deleted many-many files in my folders... lot's of .dlls. Even when I copied them over from my back up I got error messages stating the .dlls were now corrupted. Also discovered if I change the FS9 folder to something like "FS9 Original", the FS9 shortcuts also change their path to match! Not a big deal. I literally made a duplicate copy of everything so rebuiding it sh0ould not really be a hassle. Plus the whole idea was to pinpoint an addon which my be the culprit anyway. ;)
July 20, 200520 yr > 1. Was I missing something? A friend had me change the path in the Icon on the desktop, it was still taking me to the default version. Sometimes solutions are so simple, I miss the obvious.
