reloading Horizon version 2 vfr scenery

Featured Replies

Hi

After reinstalling FSX on a new drive I attemped to reinstall the base version 2 volumes (1 to 3) of horizon's VFR scenery. After ages and after theoretically installing the data from the 3 DVDs the installer crashed.

I have a vague memory of a revised installer(s) being made available but cannot seem to find it (them).

Can anybody help please?

V1 volumes 1-3 of Horizon VFR scenery was very problematic, so much so they re-issued all the disks, now known as v2.

I have the said disks and they run fine on my machine. If you are having any install problems, I would suggest you copy all the disks to an appropriate folder for each volume, on your PC (desktop) and run the installer(s) from there. I had to do that with some later volumes...It's a real pain and time consuming, but it does work.

The only volume to have been issued with a replacement installer was Vol 5, Shetland & Orkney.(AFAIK)

A number of people have had problems with optical drive compatibility and their Horizon disks over the years. Probably they had older equipment.

Your system appears to read the disks ok so I would go the long winded route and copy all content to the PC.

Arnie....if it ain't broke, don't fix it...
