recording FS

Featured Replies

Hey guys. I am creating a groundschool at work and wanted to add some video clips of FS just to add some spunk to it. Is there a program that will record the video and sound without stuttering the heck out of the final recording? I already know about fraps. Thanks

In FS you have instant replay. Isnt this a recorded footage? Can it be obtained somewhere in the the FS folder?

Come on guys. I refuse to believe that no one has a clue.

The "videos" recorded by the simulator are only a series of data points that can only be "played back" by the simulator. The "videos" do not contain any sounds or images in either compressed or uncompressed form.I don't recall the domain name or product name, but I have read reports of applications that can capture a series of screen images to create an actual video. Such a process would require significant CPU time and would probably significantly reduse frame rates in applications as processor intensive as recent versions of Flight Simulator. Just recording video from my VGA card's composite input uses about a quarter of my 2.4 Ghz CPU's clock cycles, and uses nearly 3GB of hard drive per hour. Processing the resulting file for a DVD requires aproximately twice the playback time at 100% CPU use, and that doesn't include the actual time to burn the processed image on the DVD.

You can make quite nice videos using FRAPS to capture the footage, then using the Movie Maker built into Windows XP. You can add titles and many effects. It's easy to use.Jim
