August 1, 200520 yr This is my first post to the forums. I am new to flight simming amd have been enjoying the chance to try my hand at flying. Recently I have noticed that the ATIS for Gatwick is not there anymore. I tune the comm radio to 136.52 and nothing. I am getting ATIS at other airports, just not Gatwick. I have also opened the airport with Afcad, which lists ATIS at 136.525, but still i hear nothing. any suggestions would be most welcome.
August 4, 200520 yr First of all as a resident of Plymouth, Devon welcome to the world of Flight Simulation and good to see another pilot from the UK (feel free to email me anytime if you need anything or say hello at AVSIM chat when it's back up - see link at top of page).Regarding your ATIS problem. Your AFCAD file says the same as mine (the default). If you tuned your radio manually try pressing the corresponding number in the ATC Window instead and/or try another aircraft. Sorry, best I could come up with I hope you aren't feeling alone out there I know I am not the only one to try to figure out why you have this problem :-) The only other thing I can suggest is that if you pop into AVSIM chat soon there are some pretty switched on guys there that are always glad to help assuming they are awake ;-)Andrew BrownROARING THIRTIEShttp://www.gordiusfs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/:-wave
August 4, 200520 yr I would also check to make sure you have a `voice` selected in the FS menu options - it sometimes can be unchecked.Allcott
August 4, 200520 yr I think I read somewhere that FS2004 can't handle ATIS frequencies higher than 136.0Try using Afcad to change the frequency to 135.525 and see if that fixes the problem. Matthew Spedding
August 4, 200520 yr Thanks for the welcome and the advice.Changing the frequency to 135.525 seems to have done the trick. I now have Atis as Gatwick. Looks like FS can't handle frequencies higher than 136 as you said, strange thing is that 136.535 is the default setting for Gatwick, so you would have thought it would work, guess that's Microsoft for you.
August 7, 200520 yr Cheers. Learn something new every day.Andrew BrownROARING THIRTIEShttp://www.gordiusfs.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/
