September 12, 201510 yr Hi there, First of all. Many thanks for this powerful but very handy program. However I ran into a Unhandled exception when trying to use Jumpstart. The program settings are checked and seem okay. This is the error log after pressing " Jumpstart": See the end of this message for details on invokingjust-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.************** Exception Text **************System.InvalidCastException: De conversie van tekenreeks 1.1.2004 naar type Date is ongeldig. at Microsoft.VisualBasic.CompilerServices.Conversions.ToDate(String Value) at SIMstarter.SIMstarter_Quickstart_Form.savedFlights_ComboBox_SelectedIndexChanged(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox.OnSelectedIndexChanged(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox.set_SelectedIndex(Int32 value) at System.Windows.Forms.ComboBox.set_SelectedItem(Object value) at SIMstarter.SIMstarter_Quickstart_Form.load_Quickstart() at SIMstarter.SIMstarter_Quickstart_Form.SIMstarter_Quickstart_Form_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.OnLoad(EventArgs e) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.OnCreateControl() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl(Boolean fIgnoreVisible) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.CreateControl() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmShowWindow(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.ScrollableControl.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.WmShowWindow(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Form.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.OnMessage(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m) at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)************** Loaded Assemblies **************mscorlib Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.6.96.0 built by: NETFXREL2STAGE----------------------------------------SIMstarter Assembly Version: 2.6.3.8 Win32 Version: 2.6.3.008----------------------------------------Microsoft.VisualBasic Assembly Version: 10.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 14.6.79.0 built by: NETFXREL2----------------------------------------System Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.6.79.0 built by: NETFXREL2----------------------------------------System.Core Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.6.79.0 built by: NETFXREL2----------------------------------------System.Windows.Forms Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.6.79.0 built by: NETFXREL2----------------------------------------System.Drawing Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.6.79.0 built by: NETFXREL2----------------------------------------System.Runtime.Remoting Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.6.79.0 built by: NETFXREL2----------------------------------------System.ServiceProcess Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.6.79.0 built by: NETFXREL2----------------------------------------System.Configuration Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.6.79.0 built by: NETFXREL2----------------------------------------System.Xml Assembly Version: 4.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 4.6.79.0 built by: NETFXREL2----------------------------------------Ionic.Zip Assembly Version: 1.9.1.8 Win32 Version: 1.9.1.8----------------------------------------Microsoft.VisualBasic.resources Assembly Version: 10.0.0.0 Win32 Version: 14.6.79.0 built by: NETFXREL2----------------------------------------************** JIT Debugging **************To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for thisapplication or computer (machine.config) must have thejitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section. The application must also be compiled with debuggingenabled. For example:<configuration> <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" /></configuration>When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exceptionwill be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computerrather than be handled by this dialog box. Any pointers as to what is going wrong here? .
September 13, 201510 yr Commercial Member Looks like a problem in one of your saved flights. Can you please test the following: - Backup your "<DOKUMENTS>\Flight Simulator X-Files" directory - empty it - Start SIMstarter > Jumpstart again If that works please mail me your zipped "Saved flights". ;O) Feedback would be great! Are you using the latest version of SIMstarter (v2.6 build 03)? : : : aviation.pero-online.deDeveloper of SIMstarter NG P3D & Homecockpit Builder
September 13, 201510 yr Author Hi Pero, I'm running V2.3.6 Following your instructions I was able start Jumpstart without unhandled exception. Here's a link to my compressed folder: https://www.dropbox.com/s/crwr65cdnm7s0hi/Flight%20Simulator%20X%20Files.rar?dl=0
September 13, 201510 yr Commercial Member Thanks a lot. I checked all files with 2.6.3 and everything is working fine. Did you changed anything regarding your date and time setting of your OS? Maybe you can check it. Or copy step by step the saved flights. I assumed that one of your saved flight was corrupt but for me its impossible to double check because its working. Otherwise we could have a Skype session to a remote diagnostic? : : : aviation.pero-online.deDeveloper of SIMstarter NG P3D & Homecockpit Builder
September 13, 201510 yr Author Hi Pero, Sorry for the late reply. Avsim was acting up. I removed all flights like you told.. Made a new default flight (default Trike above Puget Sound). Tried to start Jumpstart and again an unhandled exception. So perhaps it's indeed something else (date/time settings) I'm running Win10 Pro with Dutch region setting. Might that be a problem? The first message in the error log states: De conversie van tekenreeks 1.1.2015 naar type Date is ongeldig. The conversion from string 1.1.2015 to type Date is invalid.
September 14, 201510 yr Commercial Member Yes could be. Would it be possible to have a Skype remote desktop session? Please write me an email. You'll find my email adress by clicking "About" within the SIMstarter menu. I would like to double check your time and region settings. I use Win10 my self - without problems - but in german. ;O) : : : aviation.pero-online.deDeveloper of SIMstarter NG P3D & Homecockpit Builder
September 15, 201510 yr Author Hi Pero, yes no problem. Only I'm a view days at my work now. Tommorow I'm at home. I will email you! Rob
September 28, 201510 yr Author Update on the Jumpstart: Unhandled exception The problem seem to have been solved by changing the date/time settings in Win10.Originally I had a short (US) time and date setting like 2:30PM and by changing it to the 24 hour format (e.g.14:30) the problem went away. I've tested it with several of the original flight/situation files and all went well. i.e. without the unhandled exception error. I'm a happy camper for now Cpt. Pero please mark this issue as solved  Rob
