P3D Windows 7- Joystick lost connection

I've been using P3D (academic) for a few weeks and have only had problems with my Saitek Extreme 3D Pro losing its connection to the sim two times. The first time, disabling USB selective suspend solved the problem. However, my joystick still lost its connection randomly when I started P3D earlier today. I had 2 P3D sessions today before the problem occurred, and many more since I solved the problem last time. I tried reinstalling FSUIPC, making sure selective suspend was still disabled, deleting the cfg file, restarting my computer, and plugging the joystick into a different USB port, but the joystick still does not appear in the controls menu. How can I fix this?
