FMC's and Flightplans - doing it the right way around

Featured Replies

I'm lucky enough to have the Level-D 767, the PMDG 737 and the Flight1 ATR, all of which have pretty sophisticated FMC's.I also have FSNavigator and with the help of that and those excellent little add-on modules I can create flightplans to upload into the Flight Simulator Flight Planner and into all three aircraft's FMC's. With the same flightplan in FS and my FMC, IFR ATC corresponds fairly closely with the flightplan I'm working to, at least until it comes to landing. Thanks to all the guys who put all that together, so far so good. However, the FMC's all have substantially more capability than I'm using doing it that way - not least the ability to enter flightplans using airway and SID/Star information.Sometimes there are discrepancies between the various sets of data - and anyway I really want to use the FMC to input my flightplan for realism if nothing else.Has anyone ever thought of doing it the other way: i.e. writing a little module to EXPORT flight plans from the leading FMC's to be uploaded into FS Flight Planner?Failing that, to convert FMC flightplans for import into FS?Or is the reason it hasn't been done because it's too difficult?

there is a company route option that will export your flight plane from the FMC for later use, is that what your looking for?

No - as I understand it, that's just a means of saving a plan in the appropriate FMC format.I'm talking about generating a plan in the FMC and then being able to export it in a format that FS9 can read for IFR ATC purposes.I appreciate that there would still be some limitations in this!At the moment I'm using FS Navigator as a kind of "go between" - this is a great product, but it would feel more "real" to generate the flightplan direct from the FMC and then "file" it with FS9.As there are modules to convert plans from FS Navigator TO FS9 and various FMC's, I was wondering whether someone with a lot more knowledge tham me could write a module to export plans FROM the FMC's into FS9.I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one to value such a faciity. But thanks anyway!
