August 12, 200520 yr Hi everyone I just got into the flight simulators maybe about a month or two ago and I am very pleased with FS 2004 and this forum for files. However I noticed alot of people are making and using the big passenger jets and thats not my thing. I am mostly flying the single or twin and sometimes the Lear jets and I havent found alot of upgrades and enhancements for the standard small planes. Is there anyone who can point me to the right files for a small plane flyer such as myself? I also like taking the most scenic flights I can find and I was wondering what have you found out there for the small plane flights?thanksPaul
August 12, 200520 yr Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!There are plenty. Real Air, AKA the great Rob Young, has an enhancement (esp flight model) for the default 172. RAS_172.zip I think. There is an enhancement for the beech Baron baron 58TC, an IFR panel DC3, and a freeware cub compilation that used to be payware. The default cub has some problems that can cause excessive groundlooping. Free_cub4U.zip Simtech has a Staggerwing, was once payware but it's in the library. Aviat Husky, an an amphib version. Piper Aztec, with amphib variant. Beriev 103 and Lake Renegade amphibian. (Can you tell I like amphibs?) Also a beech 18 from simtech, and an enhancement for it that that turns it into a C45 transport with improvements. A Volpar, which is a Beech 18 with trycycle gear. Many improvements are in the original aircraft category. In february there will be a race around the world, I recomend you get the freeware Avanti. Can't spell the name of the maker, but I love the Rockwell Turbocommander 690 B. There are also earlier piston versions. I forget the jets ofhand, but there is a Falcon triengine with 5,000 NM range and other smaler ones.If you need specific file names I'll be glad to post them, they are written down but not with me. There is a good search engine. But first, by all means get FSManager 2.8 It will hel you manage your installation and much more. Check out my post on "I need hel with guages" for more.Best Regards, Donny:-wave
August 12, 200520 yr PaulThere are literally thousands of downloads of small aircaft, both freeware and payware, that will satisfy your needs. Just hunt on a few keywords like 'Cessna', 'Piper', 'Beechcraft', whatever. There are many many files for small airports and scenic environments, also ... look for names like Holger Sandmann, Leon Louis, Bill Melichar, Delblond Christian. There are entire sites dedicated to VFR flying and virtual airlines that do little else with bush planes and the like. You will find an endless stream of Boeings and Airbuses, for sure; I think because many growing up today know nothing else at the real world airports they see and so don't have the same curiousity as others as to small plane flying and navigation and older, superseded aircraft. But if you pop over to Simviation.com, for example (shock, horror, heresy!) and have a look under 'Vintage' category you'll find all sorts of wonderful stuff. Avsim doesn't break its file categories down in the same way, but they're all here too ... or most.Good luck!Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP Fleet, DC-3 AirwaysTeam Member, MAAM-SIM[a href=http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.html" target="_blank]http://www.paxship.com/maamlogo2.jpg[/a] _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
August 12, 200520 yr The Turbo Commander 690B Donny is talking about is probably the Veneaviones one. I can vouch for it - it's simply a great twin :) You can find it from the AVSIM File Library, just search for "veneaviones turbo commander"Also, what race were you talking about Donny?PS.Almost forgot: I've made a re-paint for the Venaviones Turbo Commander - search for "OH-ACH" in the AVSim File Library if you're interested. It's based on a Finnish TC 690 (non-B variant) from the 80s:http://www.airliners.net/open.file/289816/M/
August 12, 200520 yr Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!The RTW race the Sunday after Valentine's day. Basically teams try to get around the world the fastest, stopping on every continent except Antarctica and maybe other requirements that vary year to year. They verify the flight with a screenshot of the flight analysis window, then post it on a thread on Avsim or one of the other teams like flightsim.com. Avsim won the first two, lost last year.
August 12, 200520 yr The Carenado C-182RG , to me, is the best flying small plane. For a twin, the King Air B-200 by Aeroworx
