Looking for a tutorial flight suitable for Carendos Cessna 182

Featured Replies

I'm considering purchasing Carendo's Cessna 182 and hoping someone could recommend a good tutorial flight for this or simalar aircraft.Steve

Steve, This bird does not fly much different than the stock C182. There are a few tricks to help slow you down but basically just go out and get used to it like you would the default planes. Gear tricks. The C182RG has a pretty high extension speed. If you need to slow down in a hurry near the pattern you can drop the gear early. Otherwise, normal procedure was to drop the gear once you were established on downwind or base. When flying the ILS drop the gear when you intercept the glideslope. You were trimmed for level flight before interception and dropping the gear should create enough drag to drop you right down the slope nicely. Speeds for approach. This plane handles so well you can fly the ILS at 150knots right till the middle marker then throw out everything and slow down to a nice sedate landing. You can also slow it right down to crawl for short fields. Don't chop the power when crossing the threshold. As you flare, ease out the power, similar to a soft field approach to help hold the nose off. I would caution against using full flaps unless really necessary. The Skylane RG will drop right in with a bang if you get too slow over the numbers.
