August 3, 200421 yr I searched the forums to see if this has been a topic already, as this incident occurred in December, 2000. Having found no results (my apologies if this has been covered before), I am posting this because others might find it as intriguing as I did.I came across a video of a radarscope recreation of an emergency at Chicago TRACON, Dec. 27, 2000. American Eagle flight 230 experienced difficulties very soon after takeoff from KORD when their stabilator trim jammed. They were climbing in excess of 1,000 feet per minute with the control column full forward! They declared an emergency and sought to return to O'Hare. Actual ATC transmissions are included with the radar recreation. The download is Lotus Screencam (it's an .exe), about 11.5 mb. The video lasts approximately 20 mins. and is available here:http://www.thetracon.com/downloads/Egf230.zipThe NTSB event ID is 20010105X00017 (NTSB ID is CHI01IA055) if you wish to read more. It's interesting to watch the video at high-speed as well because it's more apparant how ATC cleared traffic for this flight, which was out of control a good deal of the time.
