August 25, 200520 yr Hello folks..Excuse my noobie-ness but I wondered if anyone could give me an idea how to use Ultimate Traffic with FS2004. I have managed to install it, and had a look around the options. I have also managed to compile a traffic file, which seems to work. I bring up the TimeTable for my airport of choice and theres the various flights going there merry way. But one thing is not clear.. do I keep the Ultimate Traffic running and then run FS2004 or not? When I bring up the palmpilot, the flights on the timetable for the airport are not on the palmpilot. I've updated Ultimate Traffic, but not downloaded any additional files I've seen mentioned in other posts.I've read the manual, but it doesn't make its use clear.Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Best wishes,Karl Hart
August 25, 200520 yr Author No - UT does not need, nor should it be, running when FS is running. The compiled traffic file and the aircraft installed are read by FS and create the moving scenery elements - AI aircraft. You must have adequate parking at your airports for the AI traffic - so you need the AFCAD files in an active scenery folder. Not having parking will make your sim run slower than ,,, well me... :-)UT is two things for most simmers - first a source of the initial AI traffic load and configurationSecondly a shell to organize updated repaints, new aircraft models, new airline flight schedules, etc. You could do all that manually, if you are willing to spend the time.Eventually you will want to install some new models, different repaints. The UT Update is great - but you do need to understand AI traffic and what you are updating.Have you tried the UT forums ? A lot of great information and answers to UT specific questions. http://ultimatetraffic.flight1.net/John Goodwin's home page and tutorials are excellent and fill in a lot of gaps in the UT manual - http://www.john-goodwin.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/index.html
