Procedures Options not Selectable

Could use some feed back with an issue with entering a flight plan using the G1000.

 

I have the GTN 750 installed and working fine but I thought that I would, just for the fun of it, try to load a flight plan using the original G1000. I have Navigraph extension 1.2 installed. windows 7.

 

Following the instructions in the manual, plus experimenting with different methods, I am only able to select the "Select Approach"  option in the Procedures page(window). All other PROC  options are grayed out. No matter what I try I can not get the options to be selectable.

 

I perhaps should mention that I was omitting any checklists.... just doing a cold/dark startup ...opening the G1000 and trying to enter a flight plan.  I did not think that that would be an issue.

 

 

 

Any suggestions?
