AI Touchdown Sound

Featured Replies

Hi all. I don't know if this is normal in FS9 but I find that I can hear the touchdown sound as AI aircraft land even if I am flying at altitude several miles away from an airfield. Is there any way to disable touchdown sounds for AI aircraft or, ideally, make them audible only if a landing happens within a plausibly realistic hearing distance? I would prefer not to disable AI sounds entirely as I do sometimes like to sit at a busy airport and watch the AI traffic.Any suggestions much appreciated.

Howdy, sounds like you have a tweaked version of the default touchdown effect. Normally, AI don't trigger any sound at touchdown but there is a trick using "leftover" CFS code that has those unfortunate side effects (audible anywhere) that you mention.Have a look at one of your AI aircraft.cfg files: Does the "touchdown" parameter in the "EFFECTS" section call a file different from the default fx_tchdwn? Or, in your FS9Effects folder, does fx_tchdwn.fx have a date stamp different from 5/30/2003?For reference, the process that allows to add those sound files is discussed in this thread: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...15140&mode=fullCheers, Holger

Thanks Holger. I do have modified touchdown effects in a couple of the default planes I converted for AI use. I will revert them to the default effect and will see if that fixes the problem.
