Yakovlev Yak-18T (File Library 2 Oct 05)

Hi,It's really is a shame that when an exciting addition to the file library appears, like the recent Yakolev Yak-18T release, a thread announcing and recommending same can often be in real danger of being sullied by unnecessary and inappropriate exchanges between some Avsim members. This can be very off-putting for those of us whose interest has been attracted by the title of the original post.We are all aware of the effort invested in the creation of such marvels, so why spoil it for those authors who ask for nothing in return other than an enthusiastic reception and appreciation by our community? If those individuals responsible must indulge in this type of behaviour, then perhaps they should be encouraged to do so privately or at least in a more appropriate forum. Such arguments and name calling are inappropriate in threads such as these and only serve to detract from the original poster's main intentions. I would urge the Moderators to delete such posts wherever possible. In an effort to restore some sense of normality I decided to repost my small contribution and I would hope others will feel able to add their comments as appropriate."This has got to be one of the most entertaining aircraft to come our way recently.Once I got the hang of the startup procedure and proceeded to roll down the runway I soon realized you need to apply a bit of forward pressure on the yoke during acceleration to stop that blessed stall warning horn from sounding! Then it's just a matter of getting the balance right - power/prop pitch and climb rate. VFR flying from the cockpit feels impressively realistic. Boy, is this one fun to fly and to listen to The flight model and sounds seem VERY convincing. Flying the Yak-18T requires constant attention from the pilot and this applies especially during the landing phase as I discovered it is quite easy to stall on approach. What a satisfying experience it is to hear those wheels contact the tarmac. But the fun is not over until you bring her to rest and that requires gentle touches on differential braking to avoid a ground loop...or worse! Trouble is I found I couldn't leave it there and quickly found myself gently winding up that wonderfully throaty engine again for yet another go around. I just know I'll be taking this bird out for a spin a lot in the future. It's a while since an a/c has given me such a sense of excitement and pleasure.A resounding thank you from me to those who had a hand in its creation."You will find it here: http://library.avsim.net/search.php?Search...004ac&Go=Search[/b]Authors: Alexey Yuzefov, George Sukhykh, Alexander Aphonin, Dmitriy Shevtsov, Mike MaarseDownloads to date: 6889 (Clearly a winner by any definition!)Mike
