October 12, 200520 yr I know it isn't supposed to be this hard but I'm having trouble figguring this out. How to fly IFR from point A to,say, gate 10 of point B. Turn off your computer then back on and file a IFR to point C while you aircraft never moves from gate 10 of point B. Sometime I try differant things and it seems to work and then again sometimes when I come back Fs2004 trys to move my aircraft from gate 10 of point B to someother starting point(gate) in point B. Its like I want to land at point B, get out and get something to eat, get back in the aircraft at the SAME place I parked it and then file a IRF to point C. Anyone know how to do it? Thanks, jerrycwo4
October 12, 200520 yr Hi,Make Previous Flight your default Startup flight. Hope this helps,JimActiveSky Sales and Supporthttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpg http://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_proud_supporter.jpg
October 12, 200520 yr Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!There is something else you may run into if you use default ATC with Previous Flight as default. Often, whether or not I exit FS9 or not, when I try to file a new plan, the only option available is to turn on/off progressive taxi. No matter if I manually retune Clearnce or whatever. Sometimes I just have to take off, then the option to file an IFR flight plan comes in midair. My workaround is to tune ground, but not request taxi for parking. When I want to move on, I use the "taxi for takeoff options".Best Regards, Donny:-wave
October 12, 200520 yr actually, I think, unless I am missing something, that the problem is simpler:Let's say you were directed to G10 when you arrived at DESTINATION. You park, grab a hamburger, and want to depart again. Create a flight plan to NEXT DESTINATION from DESTINATION. When you click "OK" the FS will ask if you would like to be moved to the new flight plan departure point and say "NO". In this case the sim is asking whether to move you from the current gate to the default active or whatever gate is specified in the flight plan and you are simply declining to move. Things then work as normal.
October 12, 200520 yr One last thing I HAVE run into: I arrive at DESTINATION and am directed to "general aviation parking via A, B, Z" etc. No specific parking spot. I use real world airport charts and the AFCAD-derived airport drawing in Flight Keeper to taxi to parking instead of the progressive taxi with its "magenta line from heaven". Thus, when I arrive at GA parking I sometime choose a parking spot different from the one that FS assumed I would chose (the instructions were nonspecific). If I am ending the flight, no problem. But I discovered the hard way that if I depart again and have parked in a different spot than what FS assumed, I cannot get ATC to switch out of ground options (choose or not choose progressive taxi). I leave the plane cold and dark, tune things manually, etc. etc but it just won't reset. I have to taxi to runway, take off (with ATC screaming I am not authorized, fun fun) and nothing gets reset until it is time to be switched to departure from tower. In this interest of realism (it is amazing how guity I feel!) I don't do this often. Instead I have begun turning on the Great Magenta Line when I am almost at the gate just to make sure I park where they expect if I am planning another departure without ending the flight (very unusual for me since if also confuses the FlightKeeper logbook/blackbox utility I run).
October 12, 200520 yr Donny AKA ShalomarFly 2 ROCKS!!!That's exactly what I'm talking about. I'll give it another try, and follow the Magenta to its conclusion. I didn't think of trying thst before, usually when on mulitple GA hops I park close to the door of a building that looks the most like an FBO. Also when I conclude a flight, I often just exit totally, select previous flight next session and still the same behavior. Do you save the flight, or just exiting do the trick? And if you don't save it, how does it apear, Previous Fight, UI generated or do you just go to "create a flight" and change nothing?Edit: If you want to since you use real world charts, you could just acknoweledge the handoff, tune ground and not contact them. Then you'll be right at "taxi to parking" or "taxi for takeoff" options and can park wherever the hXXX you want. What does default ground control really do anyway in FS9? And if you're on multiplayer, it's either not available or your onlline controller might send you a different way. AAAH, I forgot, not everyone has a 'puter like mine and keeps traffic off to conserve resources.Best Regards, Donny:-wave
October 13, 200520 yr Hi,The way to reset ATC and get your takeoff options again (i.e. when progressive taxi is your only option):1. Choose World/Map2. Change your heading by one degree.3. Click OK.Now you will have takeoff options again. The other way to do this is NOT contact ground when requested. You will have takeoff options listed when ready to take off.Hope this helps,--Tom GibsonCal Classic Propliner Page: http://www.calclassic.comFreeflight Design Shop: http://www.freeflightdesign.comDrop by! ___x_x_(")_x_x___ Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
October 13, 200520 yr good ideas. I usually conclude flights formally, even when I am continuing so I can review the flight analysis and to avoid confusing Flightkeeper (wonderful utility!). But once in a while I do this so I will try ignoring the ground contact directive. thanks.
