December 1, 200520 yr Hello all, I have the Lago Tornado and for a change i thought i would fly it and although its a great looking model i just can,t seem to get it to fly very well, most aircraft i have in my hanger are ok even helecopters , i just thought i would ask if anyone has had the same sort of thing or whether there is a fix for it as its been out some time , Any help would be appreciated , thanks Roger.
December 1, 200520 yr What problems exactly are you having? Remember, this is a high performance supersonic jet. It behaves very differently from a Cessna or a Boeing. I love handflying this baby low level through the landscape. Tell us what aspect of flying you are having trouble with and we will try to help. :-)
December 1, 200520 yr Hi, You proberly have hit the nail right on the head as i have only really flown Boeings etc and have been flying the Tornado with CH yoke and i have found it difficult get it to hand fly level , would a stick be a better option, what sort of settings do you use? Thanks for the help, Roger.
December 1, 200520 yr Probably. I don't have any fancy controllers. I use an MS Sidewinder Pro and you do need quite a bit of forward stick coming out of a turn to keep her level. I once watched a TV report about German Tornado pilots on low flying exercises at Goose Bay. They had a fisheye view of the pilot's cockpit while he was flying and you could see him literally moving the stick in circles as he rolled into the turn, pulled up to turn, rolled out of the turn in the opposite direction and pushed the stick forward to maintain level coming out of the turn. It was a motion somewhat akin to stirring a big pot of soup, :-lol. I can imagine you would have a bit of trouble doing anything but the most cautious manoeuvres with a yoke.
December 1, 200520 yr I also have serious problems flying any high-performance aircraft with a yoke, so keep a Saitek Cyborg next to the PC for military types and helicopters. Makes things a lot easier. ;-)I have no problems flying the Lago Tornado at all.Cheers,Ian P.
December 2, 200520 yr Hi , Thanks for the help guys, i did reply last nite Misha but it looks like for some reason it did,nt show in the post, and Ian, i will try another joystick and hopefully it will be better as the Tornado is a great aircraft, i do find the autopilot takes a while to hold a given height in the Lago model i do not know if anything can be done about this in the cfg file or air file it tends to porpoise up and down. Now i know this is a fighter but they do use the autopilot for certain manoeuvres , anyway i,ll keep at it . Cheers Roger.
