Please note: I am new to this stuff....very new.

I loaded the XP11 demo on my spanking new Dell XPS i7-4700k, 16GB, GTX 1070 8GB video. Seems to run great although I don't know how to fly. But can anyone tell me what is going on in this photo? After taking off from Seattle, the dash also gets darker like a light went out (whole dash, not any particular displays). I tried the Beechcraft and all cockpit displays we normal (no "rain" on any guage) but dash went darker also.

Try setting the weather to clear sky, no clouds and see if it looks the same. X-Plane clouds have shadows, and you might have just flown into a shadow that darkened the cockpit.
