What scenery solution for my new sim ?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

after many years with a stable fsx config and in sync with a PC HW refresh I'd like to develop my next flight simulation solution, including an advanced scenery component within the solution.

The biggest area of concern I have, mostly due to my lack of knowledge, is the foundation of the scenery component in terms of add-on products that I may adopt.

I am then asking for some support with the following two main questions:

1. is there a tutorial that explains in a clear way textures, landclasses, .... ? This would help raising my knowledge

2. from what I see there are solutions based on UTX+GEX and others based on FTX Global + Vector + OpenLC: do I need to choose one of the two solutions? I mean, might I mix components from the two solutions ? Are there incompatibilities among the components above?

Please note, I'm not asking what is the best solution, this I will have to discover myself based on my preference, I'm just asking if there are solution "streams", let's say, so that once you choose a stream you have to stay with that for all the solution's components

Thanks a lot in advance !

Kind regards,

Aldo
