  1. Thanks a lot for the hint Todd, for sure I will read the section you kindly suggested. Reality is, there is always room to learn something more and new. Thanks again, Aldo
  2. Thanks for posting, very interesting video. One thing I noticed that doesn't match with my pmdg 737 ngx flying experience: When autolanding the AP mode switches to announce AUTO LAND, in the video you posted - real life - the pfd announced CMD but the plane still autolanded... How do I explain this behavior ? Is autoland possible when pfd is announcing CMD mode ? Thanks Aldo
  3. Hi all, a few days ago I setup an LFPG-KSFO long haul filght. PMDG 777-200, ASN for weather, REX Overdrive for textures. Flight plan has been loaded to the plane and to ASN, weather theme set in FSX as Active Sky Next generated dynamic theme. At a certain point during the flight, I realized I'd be flying over water before reaching the Canada coast but I noticed the depicted scenery at that same time was winter land instead, eg country fields with snow and some straight roads. I switched the view to map view, zoomed out just to discover that the red cross representing the plane is located at the center of an almost rectangular shape characterized by darker colors. The rectangular shape moves as well so that the plane is always at the center. No problem when the plane is flying over land, as land scenery is depicted, but when the plane goes flying over water still land scenery is depicted and that is NOT right (except in case the Hudson Bay water is already totally frozen in this season of the year...) !! Any idea on what the rectangular shape could represent ? May it be the earth surface portion around the plane influenced by ASN ? I cannot post a picture now, will do as soon as possible Kind regards, Aldo
  4. All thanks a lot for your kind comments and suggestions. I cannot fly until Sunday will try your suggestions then and report here. Thanks again ! Aldo
  5. Kyle you won the bet! There IS in fact an *FMC message on the EICAS just above the no smoking message. I thought that was an alert to direct my attention to the FMCs, I wnth there but noticed no messages in the scratchpad line at the lower screen bottom where usually messages appear. Is there a way to recall messages on the FMC or is there another way to see messages when *FMC is shown on the EICAS ? Thanks Aldo
  6. Thaks for the hints! 1. VAS was low along the last flight, I always keep procexp open to have VAS in sight, I'm sure VAS was not the issue. Moreover, VAS ding is somehow high pitched, while the ding I hear is "slow and soft" 2. WX uplink.. well maybe, can the uplik be automatic and periodic as I hear the ding a number of times while flying. I ask as usually I do call myself via FMC for the WX updates as part of my enroute tasks Regards, Aldo
  7. Hi all, my 777-200 (with BA livery) periodically emits a soft ding while enroute on long flights. No warnings, no lights, no messages, no apparent reason I can imagine. To be clear, this is not the pilot attention request alert. Any clue on the reasons for this sound ? Thanks a lot ! Aldo
  8. Hello Jim, I had right yesterday the opportunity to reach again my FSX PC after the summer holidays and tried your suggestion. It definitely worked, setting the zoom as you suggested eliminated the annoying effect I was seeing before. Thanks a lot for the advice ! Aldo
  9. Hi all, I have noticed recently a strange visual effect while flying: - when I look at the landscape through the airplane cockpit windows or while in wing view I see a high level of terrain detail, ie no blurred scenery. - when I switch to any of the external views, say looking at the plane and the terrain from a POV above the plane, the terrain scenery is blurred and the higher level of detail cancelling the blurring is loaded in noticeable chunks, ie I see zones of the terrain switching in a progressive way from blurred to non-blurred. This is very evident when from my POV above the airplane I look down just perpendicularly to the terrain. The terrain below the plane appears initially blurred and then higher detail is rendered. This happens not only right when I switch the views, but continues along the flight while remaining in the same view for minutes or hours. Given that I set the LOD_RADIUS parameter to 5.5 and I never change it, I have no clue about the reason for this annoying behavior. My major point is then: if my hw+sw+settings are such that it is possible to render the scenery in high resolution while looking at it through the windows why do I get blurred scenery when looking at it from external views ? Ideally, I'd like to have the same rendering in cockpit/external views. I understand that the "amount" of scenery to be rendered may be bigger while in external views than while in internal views, but when looking down perpendicularly to the terrain from above the airplane I think the amount of scenery to be rendered is actually smaller than the one I could reach while looking through a lateral cockpit window... Thanks in advance for whatever advice you may offer ! Aldo
  10. Jaime, Michael you rocked ! It worked perfeclty, and I'm about to land in 15' so just had the chance to modify the route on the fly !! Thanks Ciao Aldo
  11. Hi all, I loaded to the fmc a route to KIAD and noticed there is an almost 180 deg turn just 10nm before landing. I'd like to add a custom waypoint so to somehow "round" the path to the runway. In the PMDG 737 FMC I'd add a FIX/BRG/DIST waypoint like MOSBY/290/10, but I do not find a way to go with the 777 FMC. Just opened the FIX page, added the FIX as per the FMC screen fields - MOSBY at LSK 1L, 290/10 at LSK 2L - and it looks there are no errors, but then I do not find ways to copy the fix, paste it into the legs page and include it into the active route I'm flying right now Can someone advise on how to do ? Thanks a lot in advance Aldo

  13. Below my answers to the questions asked above: - ILS is in range, tuned (i mean it is set either automatically or even manually by re entering freq/course pair) - heading bug set to ILS course as in freq/course pair entered in nav radio page I think I am OK as sometimes it is enough to disable - reenable AP to have at the next trial the buttons properly arm the modes. The sequence is LOC/fail-AP OFF-AP ON- LOC/ARM OK Regards, Aldo
  14. Hi all, on some flights but not on a regular basis I noticed a behavior that appears really odd to me: LOC (and also APP) modes do not arm as expected when the buttons are pressed, i.e. I see no green light on the button and no FMA indication that the modes are armed Sometimes, to fix the issue I try disabiling and then re-enabiling the AP. After this off-on sequence the buttons do get their green bar and the modes are reported as armed in the FMA as expected. Yesterday, however, this manoeuvre failed at the end of an excellent EGLL-LLBG/RWY08 flight and I had to land in manual mode as I found no way to get LOC and APP armed at the end of the STAR to LLBG RWY08. Also tried erasing-reentering the ILS/Course data in the NAV RAD page to no success. Usually I arm LOC when I get aligned to the runway I want to land to and see the diamonds getting live, I arm APP when LOC is engaged, In any case, I'm at least flaps 5 with reducing speed. Any ideas about what could be the reason for these issues ? Thanks a lot in advance Aldo

The actual weight was 500,800 lbs, see the FMC screenshot In this test flight I noticed the small pitch up attitude again. Not a big problem however, now it's not bouncing ! Regards, Aldo
  16. aldox62 replied to Wolf20's topic in PMDG 777
Tried with flaps 30 as kindly recommended by Bryan: no visible bounce now, yet just before touching down the airplane seems to start flying level off for awhile and then touches the runway in a stable way. Much better than before, however. Thanks a lot for the suggestion Regards, Aldo

Hi all I get the very same behavior under the following conditions: - landing config initialized in fmc, flaps out at 25 - mcp speed set at vref+5 - no wind in fsx or from other add-ons - weight at landing: full pax, some cargo, fuel slightly in excess of the reserve limit On landing, the plane touches while flaring, then slightly bounces then touches down again. I see smoke at wheel contact with the runway both times. As this is a saved flight the behavior can be repeated. Will give a try setting mcp speed at vref instead of vref+5 to see if something changes Regards, Aldo
  18. Well, the cruise level is strange because this is a test flight I saved by just connecting a sid and a star from/to my home airport, a 17 minutes ride to take confidence with the T7. However I tried your suggestion and it worked perfectly: setting FL100 as CRZ ALT the precomputed ECON SPD is never commanded as the sid/star legs' speeds prevail. Thanks a lot for your kind insight ! Regards, Aldo
  19. On flying a SID departing from Turin airport (LIMF - ITALY) RW36 I see that the commanded speed is far above the ones I see associated to SID wpts. The commanded speed is 320kts while it should not exceed 220kts. As you can see in the attached screenshots, while the legs page shows at the topmost wpts in the page a speed of 220kts, the vnav and progress pages show an econ spd equal to 320kts, which is the one the T7 tends to and reaches as it can be seen on the speed tape The point is, I never entered such a speed while pre-flight configuring the T7 FMC and this speed does not appear to my knowledge in the SID definition. So from where does this (I assume FMC-computed) speed come from ? I already searched the relevant part of the documentation and forum posts to no result. I also tried replacing by hand speed/altitude constraints with manual ones trying lower speeds but nothing changed, the commanded speed is always 320kts and there the airplane tends to. Can someone help me understanding if I'm wrong somewhere - may well be - and why ? Thanks a lot in advance for any contribution ! Regards Aldo B
  20. I bought mine from Italy this morning at 7am, after a few retries I went through and completed the process.Download was very fast, in between 200-600kbps. First flight (with lot of emotion) has been wonderful !!
