Scenery confusion

Recommended Posts

I have been using P3D for a couple of weeks now and I am generally happy with it, however, I am confused as to what are the "default' Scenery files. I appear to have many files duplicated in my scenery folder and these file also show up in the Scenery Config programme I use. For example, scenery files appear as"Scenery\Cities\TwentyNine_Palms and also f:\Prepar3d 3.4\Scenery\Cities\TwentyNine_Palms.

It seems logical that the scenery areas prefixed by f:\Prepar3d 3.4\Scenery\.........are the ones I should keep. Would these duplicates have any effect on VAS usage? Can anyone assist please?

It seems also that my system gets very close to the VAS limit with PMDG aircraft running and it is good to see there may be a partial fix coming out from P3D soon.

the way to prove this is to (back up)  and delete the scenery.cfg fil;e in program data. P3D will create a new one with the default scenery only ... there you can see. If your scenery config program shows duplicates , that is your config program fault. then you can restore the scenery.cfg file from your backup and all your scenery addons will be back.

P3D will only load scenery that is active in the scenery GUI.
